Does the new UAE Labour Law apply to all employees?+
Federal Decree-Law No. 33 of 2021 applies to all private sector employees in the UAE mainland. Free zone employees in DIFC and ADGM have separate employment law frameworks — covered in Module 1. Government employees are governed by separate federal and emirate civil service laws.
What changed in the 2022 UAE Labour Law?+
Key changes include: new flexible and part-time work models, updated contract types, strengthened anti-discrimination provisions, new parental leave entitlements, updated Emiratisation quotas, clearer arbitrary dismissal compensation rules, and enhanced MOHRE enforcement powers. How is gratuity calculated under the new law?+

What are the Emiratisation quotas?+
UAE private sector employers with 50+ employees must meet Emiratisation quotas — currently set at 2% annual increase. Failure to meet quotas results in fines of AED 6,000 per unfilled Emirati position per quarter. Our course covers the NAFIS scheme, Tawjeeh requirements, and compliant Emiratisation practices.
Can an employer terminate an employee without a reason?+
Yes, but compensation is required. Termination without cause requires the employer to provide notice pay plus, if found to be arbitrary, an arbitrary dismissal award of up to 3 months’ gross salary. Our course covers all termination scenarios and their financial implications in detail.
What is WPS and what are the penalties for non-compliance?+
The Wage Protection System (WPS) requires UAE private sector employers to pay salaries through approved financial institutions by specified deadlines. Non-compliance results in an immediate hiring ban, fines, and potential criminal liability. Module 1 covers WPS requirements and common compliance failures.
